Messages of Appreciation from the Community

  • The Community House has been an important part of Todd County’s community for nearly a century. This important non-profit provides outreach to those in our community that have needs that government and other charitable institutions do not meet. It is a vital source of guidance and assistance to those who otherwise would have those needs go unfulfilled. I am proud to have the Milliken Memorial Community House right here at home, in Todd County.

    John Walton
    Director, Todd County Industrial Foundation
  • Since the early 20th Century the Milliken Memorial Community House, the first privately donated community house in the United States, has served as a continual reminder of the love a child possesses for her beloved mother. When I ponder the significance of the Community House to Todd County, I am flooded with memories of weddings, graduations, TCCHS proms, TCCHS Beta Club inductions, Rotary Club meetings, Chautauqua speakers, birthday parties, Teen Town, class reunions, craft shows, and the 2000 “Roaring Twenties Kickoff” for Todd County’s Bicentennial. Many of my most vivid memories focus on the theatrical performances that occurred in the upstairs auditorium, dramas providing the youth of our community the opportunities to ‘showcase’ their many talents.

  • As a Rotarian, I enjoy weekly luncheons in its meeting room. As a Chamber member, I enjoy the annual membership banquet and other events in its ballroom throughout the year.  As a member of the Historic Todd County, Inc. board of directors, I appreciate the vital role the Milliken Memorial Community House has played in this community since 1928.  A truly historic treasure!
